Village Treasurer Opening

The Village of Parma is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Village Treasurer.

The position will be open until July 26th, 2024. Interviews will begin July 29th, 2024.

Interested persons should submit a completed application and a copy of their resume via Email, US mail or it can be dropped off in person at the village office.

Duties and Responsibilities of Village Treasurer

  • Answer telephones and handle inquiries.

  • Address walk-up service at village office window

  • Collect and enter utility payments

  • Other Duties as needed

• Make a complete & timely financial report to the council as requested. (MCL 64.8)

• Keep an account of all receipts and expenditures. (MCL 64.9)

• Make periodic reports to the clerk and council as required by law. (MCL 64.10)

• Collect and keep an account of all taxes and money appropriations. (MCL 64.9)

 

Qualifications should include:

  • Basic Accounting Preferred with Experience in BS&A or other Municipal software.

  • Municipal Knowledge Preferred

  • Some College Education

  • Basic Math skills, ability to count and handle cash, checks and online payments

  • Ability to work 20-30 hours per week as scheduled

  • Arrive at work on time and work full schedule

  • Reliable transportation

  • Ability to multitask in a rapidly changing environment

  • Attend a 1-3 hour evening meeting once a month and occasionally attend a special meeting as needed

  • Work independently

  •  Work with a computer and applications, including Windows Word, Excel and accounting software.

  • Teamwork

  • Decision making

  • Time Management

  • Self-Starting Ability

 

Will be under the supervision of the village clerk.

 

Benefits:

Pay will be based on experience. 1 Week vacation after 90 days, 2 weeks after 1 year. Raise after 90 day probationary period. Annual raises based on performance.
